Apprenticeship Week 2026

At BJF Group, apprentices are an important part of our future. National Apprenticeship Week provides a valuable opportunity to highlight the role they play across our teams and the long-term investment we make in developing skills within the built environment.

We currently have 11 live apprentices across the business, each contributing to our projects while building the skills they need for a lasting career.

We believe an apprenticeship should offer more than just training. From day one, our apprentices are welcomed as valued employees, given real responsibility, and supported to build the confidence, knowledge and practical experience they need to succeed. They bring fresh thinking, new energy and a strong desire to learn, which makes a meaningful difference across our projects and sites.

Our apprenticeship programme is designed to provide a strong foundation for a lasting career. Apprentices benefit from hands-on learning alongside experienced professionals, gaining real on-site experience while developing technical, practical and professional skills. Alongside this, they dedicate time to structured study and training, helping them achieve recognised qualifications that support their long-term development.

We are committed to creating clear pathways into the industry for young people who are looking to take their first step into construction, facilities management, and building services. By combining paid employment, job-specific training and ongoing support, we help apprentices grow into confident, capable professionals who can progress within the business.

Alongside our apprenticeship opportunities, we place strong emphasis on meaningful work-experience pathways. We actively engage with local schools and colleges through careers talks, curriculum engagement sessions and safety workshops, helping students understand the opportunities available within the built environment and the skills required to succeed.

During work-experience placements, young people are supported with structured CV guidance and interview preparation, including the opportunity to take part in a formal interview as part of the placement. Additional careers guidance is also shared during our school and college engagement sessions, giving students practical insight and helping them feel more confident about their next steps.

The experiences shared by our apprentices reflect the value of learning on the job. They often speak about the variety of work, the opportunity to try new things, and the importance of asking questions and building knowledge over time. While the journey can be challenging, their advice to others is consistent: stay committed, get involved, and make the most of every opportunity to learn.

National Apprenticeship Week is a chance to recognise the progress our apprentices have made and the contribution they continue to bring to the business. By investing in skills, supporting early careers, and engaging with the next generation, we are helping to build a strong and sustainable workforce for the future.

Ethan Conway, M&E Apprentice Electrician, started 7th June 2021

My apprenticeship has given me the chance to work in a variety of environments and sectors, including secure sites, which has been really valuable. I’ve learned so much from the hands-on experience and from working alongside skilled colleagues. Being named Engineer of the Year at the Best of BJF Awards was a real highlight, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me at BJF.
