Having taken on board the maintenance of the site in February 2015, BJF Group’s Facilities Management Division has recently been awarded a project to refurbish three floors of accommodation blocks at Woolwich Barracks for Amey on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

Built in the 1700’s Woolwich Barracks is steeped in history having been home to the Royal Artillery for almost 300 years. Today Woolwich Barracks is home to the 1st Battalion of the Royal Anglians, the East of England’s premier Infantry Regiment. The King’s Troop also resides at the barracks comprising around 120 horses and artillery pieces which are a central part of state occasions, royal anniversaries and military and state funerals. BJF Group took on the facilities management remit for the King’s Troop facilities in early 2019.

The project will see BJF strip out and renovate three floors within the Officer’s Mess annex, each circa 500 m2 and comprising of residential rooms, ablutions, showers and utility rooms. We will be installing hot and cold supply and drainage for new showers and upgrading mechanical and electrical elements including fitting energy saving LED lighting units. In terms of building fabric, the project will involve flooring, cubicle paneling within the newly installed shower areas and painting and decorating.

As the works will be within a live building, we will be working closely with the MoD to ensure that noise, dust and disruption are kept to an absolute minimum.

Amey is a major client for BJF Group and we are delighted to be completing another project for the Ministry of Defence as part of our long-standing partnership.
