BJF Group’s M&E division delivered an external lighting upgrade at a secure government facility in the UK. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, its location and name have been withheld.
This project replaced outdated lighting with modern, energy-efficient LED streetlights, meeting the site’s requirements for safety and operational efficiency.
BJF Group was appointed to this project following a competitive tender process, selected for its proven track recordin delivering complex works within secure, high-compliance environments.
The project required the removal of outdated external lighting and the installation of a new, energy-efficient LED system to improve visibility and safety across external walkways.
The works included:
The project was delivered in two key phases:
BJF Group’s civils and electrical teams worked closely together throughout the project under the supervision of the Project Manager, ensuring smooth coordination and progress at every stage.
During the civils phase, the team encountered weather challenges that delayed concrete drying times. Through flexible rescheduling and close site management, BJF maintained momentum and completed the project within the agreed timeframe.
The electrical team then successfully installed the new LED lighting system, significantly improving external visibility and ensuring safer walkways around the secure site. The lighting now meets modern performance and compliance standards, offering improved efficiency and easier maintenance.
Previously, access to lighting for maintenance required the use of MEWPs. With the installation of concrete lighting pillars, maintenance teams can now safely and efficiently service the lighting from ground level.
This external lighting upgrade demonstrates BJF Group’s ability to deliver practical, efficient solutions within secure and complex environments.
The project has provided the client with a reliable, energy-efficient lighting system that improves safety and supports their operational needs. All works were completed on time and within budget, despite the challenges of working within a highly controlled site.
