As part of a major drive to enhance the lived experience of Service personnel and their families across the MOD estate, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is investing heavily in improvement works to their accommodation buildings.

Working on behalf of Amey, BJF Group’s Construction and Mechanical & Electrical divisions are currently making excellent progress on one such project – the refurbishment of an accommodation block at the prestigious Wellington Barracks in Central London.

The first phase of the works is now complete meaning that half of the accommodation block has a new lease of life as we move on to phase two – the second half of the building.

The improvements we are making include top to bottom redecoration, new bathrooms and kitchens areas, flooring, fire doors, lift upgrades, bedroom furniture, window enhancements etc to make them more comfortable as well as upgrading all power, lighting, and hot and cold water systems.

Owing to its size we have been able to give three of our apprentices the opportunity to work on this project allowing them to gain experience on a large and important scheme. They are all enjoying their time on site and have flourished under the guidance of more experienced members of the team.

Our team have created a more welcoming, comfortable and spacious living space for our valued service personnel, and we look forward to repeating this on the second half of the building.
