BJF Group’s Construction Division has successfully completed a circa £2m refurbishment and extension of the Sevenoaks Community Centre to create the Bat & Ball Centre, designed by Architects Theis + Khan, for Sevenoaks Town Council.

We have created a newly refurbished, remodelled and extended facility which is unrecognisable from the 1970’s Sevenoaks Community Centre.

As you enter through the brand new, fully accessible entrance adorned with artwork inspired by the local area you are greeted with a light, airy and modern entrance area complete with a sculpture commissioned by a local artist and fashioned from a piece of trunk from one of the original seven Oak trees destroyed in the 1987 storm and from which Sevenoaks got its name.

Aside from the shell there is not an area of the inside or outside which hasn’t been improved. From the completely revamped main hall to the bright, modern toilets and fresh external play area, the building has undergone a significant transformation.

Refurbishing rather than demolition saved on a considerable amount of waste and this approach also saved money for the Council. We reduced noise and other disruption for neighbouring businesses, residents and the children’s day nursery which shares the site.

Linda Larter, Sevenoaks Town Council Chief Executive said:

“We really enjoyed working with BJF Group, it was a difficult year but they still delivered the project on time, in budget and with lots of uplift to the specification, which will benefit the local community for many years to come”
