For last year’s National Apprenticeship Week, we spoke to Juliette who at the time was a Business Administration Apprentice.

To celebrate the start of NAW 2020 we caught up with her again to find out what’s been happening since:

What have you been up to since this time last year?

The biggest news since last year is that I am no longer an apprentice!

Since finishing my Apprenticeship in March 2019, I have now been officially employed by BJF Group as a Junior Administrator in the Procurement department.

What new things have you done/learnt over the past year?

I have continued to learn new transferable skills for my future career in purchasing including programs such as excel and outlook but also communication and negotiation. I have developed personally and professionally by encountering new challenges and finding solutions to them. I have been interacting with lots more suppliers and internal staff members and my workload has increased a good amount to keep me busy.

What has been your proudest moment over the last year?

My proudest moment was when my manager went on sabbatical for 6 weeks which meant I had to take on a large number of tasks that were usually hers. It made me realise that I can do things on my own without asking too many questions and can perform well in my role under pressure.

What does your next year at BJF Group have in store for you?

BJF Group has recently hired a new Head of Procurement and Supply Chain who has previously worked at the largest privately owned construction company in the UK. I am hoping to learn lots from him and get guidance to help me in my future career. I’m also hoping that further training is on the agenda for me this year, so I am able to progress more and gain even more knowledge in my role.

What about your future longer term?

It is very early days in my career however I am more confident in what I do and I’m excited for what the future brings.
