As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2022 we caught up with Site Management apprentice Jack to find out how he’s been getting on since he started with us.

  • What have you been up to since starting your apprenticeship?

I have been working as an assistant site manager on an army barracks in central London, we have been refurbishing the living quarters for the soldiers. We have completed phase 1 (one side of the building) and we are now working our way through phase 2.

  • What new things have you done/learnt since starting your apprenticeship?

I have done so much since starting my apprenticeship, from working in coalition with sub-contractors to get the job done and help them in anyway I can to ensuring the health and safety on site is the best it can be. I have been in my apprenticeship for just over a year now and I’ve learned so much, it hasn’t been a smooth journey but from when the times were difficult that is when I learned the most. I am grateful that I have gone through the tough times as much as I’ve gone through the fun times.

  • What has been your proudest moment so far?

I would definitely have to say getting the first part of the job at Wellington Barracks over the line. I am now focusing on getting the whole job over the line and that will then be the proudest moment.

  • What does your next year at BJF Group have in store for you?

I would like to think a lot of learning and gaining skills to help me in the long term that can help me to get the best out my job and go further in the industry.

  • What about your future longer term?

Who knows what will happen in the future but I definitely would like to end up at the top.

If you are interested in an apprenticeship at BJF Group, we are currently looking for two electrical and one plumbing apprentice – contact Symone on 07443 265 308 to find out more.
