For this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, we wanted to catch up with some of our current apprentices. Archie Caistor is an Electrical Apprentice working in our Facilities Management Division.

Here’s what Archie had to say about his Apprenticeship so far:

-What have you been up to since starting your apprenticeship?

As part of the Facilities Management Division, I have been working at Woolwich Barracks recently doing fixed wire testing which is a key part of the electrical maintenance on our MOD Contract. As well as this I have been wiring lights and learning how to strip and terminate armoured cable.

-What new things have you done/learnt since starting your apprenticeship?

Since starting I have learnt how to test as well as 1st and 2nd fix.

-What has been your proudest moment so far?

My proudest moment has been wiring up a light and seeing it work. It’s the small things like this that really bring what you learn to life.

-What does your next year at BJF Group have in store for you?

Hopefully I will be able to learn more skills and visit new sites to gain even more experience.

-What about your future longer term?

I want to complete my apprenticeship and obtain my gold card as well as hopefully being offered a full time, permanent job at BJF Group.
