BJF Group has been contracted by Nazareth Care Charitable Trust to refurbish the Nazareth House Care Home in Hammersmith, London.

Nazareth House, Hammersmith was the first of the Nazareth Houses established in October 1857 by the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth. Today, Nazareth Houses can be found across the globe including in Australia, the USA, New Zealand, Africa and Ireland.

It is part of the mission of the Sisters of Nazareth to respond to the needs of the times and with that comes a desire to update and modernise their facilities to ensure that they provide an exceptional living environment for those within their care.

Recently, BJF Group were honoured to take part in a blessing and groundbreaking ceremony at Nazareth House, Hammersmith to mark the start of a much-anticipated refurbishment project which, according to the Sisters has been in the planning for some eight years. During the ceremony, the delight of the entire project team that this project is going ahead was palpable and it is clear that it will make a real difference to all of the residents.

The £16.5m project will see BJF Group completely transform all of the living areas and communal spaces. Improvements will include increased room sizes, reconfiguration and redecoration of rooms with ensuite wet room facilities installed in every bedroom, a new reception area, greater accessibility throughout, fire safety upgrades and new windows. Whilst most of the work focuses internally, we will also be demolishing and rebuilding two existing additions to make them more sympathetic to the original building.

Paul Newstead, Head of Construction at BJF Group said:

“BJF Group is proud to be delivering this large-scale refurbishment project which will really bring this building into the 21st century.

On completion, the internal areas will not only match the stunning aesthetic of the exterior but will also be much more fitting of the requirements and expectations of care home residents of today and into the future.

We’re thrilled to have been able to mark the start of this unique project in such a meaningful way and look forward to working closely with everyone involved in the project to inject a new lease of life into Nazareth House Hammersmith.”

Kevin Barnes, Congregational CEO of the Sisters of Nazareth said:

“We are excited to be refurbishing our motherhouse and the spiritual home of the Sisters, where our mission started. It is a beautiful Victorian building that needs updating to meet modern care needs. We are delighted to be working with BJF Group to bring new life to the building and to be an exceptional home for the residents and Sisters in Nazareth House Hammersmith.”
