BJF Group’s Fire Safety Solutions division has been awarded their second large scale fire safety project in two weeks.

The project involves fire stopping works to 450 flats taking place over 10 weeks for a Social Housing organisation in Scotland.

The work will comprise of rectifying penetrations through a compartment wall where disused heating installations have been removed. The penetrations are located in a vertical column that is in effect a Chimney. All service holes through floors and compartment walls must be fire stopped to prevent the passage of fire, smoke and hot gases.

These are crucial works as, should a fire occur, these measures will maintain the integrity of escape routes and reduce loss or damage to property from fire and smoke.
