As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and holder of the Gold Armed Forces Covenant Recognition Award, we are committed to providing meaningful careers for ex-service personnel, reservists, and their families.

Many members of our team come from military backgrounds, and we recognise the valuable skills, discipline and experience they bring.

Whether in a trade, technical, or management role, Armed Forces leavers often find natural progression into our work, particularly within the secure and specialist environments we operate in.

We deliver services in a wide range of secure settings, including:

Ministry of Defence sites

Prisons and custodial estates

Hospitals and NHS properties

Education and government buildings

This allows us to offer roles that may feel familiar to ex-service personnel, with the added support of an experienced and respectful team.

Our Commitments Under the Armed Forces Covenant

We deliver services in a wide range of secure settings, including:

Working with the Careers Transition Partnership to offer tailored guidance and opportunities to service leavers
Supporting employees who are reservists, and providing flexibility where possible for their training and deployment
Offering consideration and flexibility to Armed Forces spouses and family members
Recognising the contribution of the Armed Forces community, including on national days of remembrance
Continuing to support Armed Forces charities and community causes

Service Leaver Stories

Thomas Connelly

Transitioning from military to civilian life is a significant step, and like many service leavers, I had some uncertainty about what to expect.

From the outset, BJF Group has been incredibly supportive, creating an environment where I felt welcomed and understood. They’ve not only recognised the value of my military background but have also given me the chance to continue using those skills in a meaningful way.

Working on MOD sites through BJF has provided a real sense of familiarity and purpose, it’s been a great way to bridge the gap between military and civilian work.

At the same time, I’ve been encouraged to grow professionally, learning new skills and adapting to the commercial environment with the support of a knowledgeable and experienced team SHEQ team and Operational Senior Leadership Team.

Overall, joining BJF Group has been a really positive part of my transition. It’s reassuring to be part of an organisation that genuinely values the experience of ex-service personnel and invests in their continued development.

I hope to continue to grow within this organisation and give back for the opportunities that have been given to me.
